Moon Foundation is a new age musical project that was founded in the late 1990s by electronic musician Steve Netting. Despite being based in the UK, the project gained a following in the United States thanks to his unique blend of new-age inspired tracks, experimental electronic and early industrial sounds.
Moon Foundation released two compilations in 2012, ‘The New Age’ and ‘Electrospective’, showcasing his diverse range of musical styles. Although the project is now mostly inactive, Steve occasionally produces new tracks under this name, such as the recent ‘Witches’ Chant’, based on the famous poem by Doreen Valiente.
Moon Foundation’s original studio was built around an Akai S2000 sampler, Korg N1R synthesiser, Yamaha SY85 keyboard, and sequenced using an Alesis MMT8. No computers were used at that time. Steve also played guitar and provided minimal vocals on some tracks, including the famous ‘Goddess Chant’, which remains popular today.
Steve is a skilled and experienced musician who is currently engaged in several exciting projects, including ‘Coherer’ and ‘Cybernet 1202’ (electro), ‘Town and County’ and ‘Pennycross Coven’ (Hauntology) in addition to immersive audio experiences and musical soundtracks for demoscene productions.
